All details you need to know about Indian Tourist Visa are available on this page. Please make sure you read through the details before applying for eVisa for India.
India is often seen as an exotic travel destination but it is truly a place full of a rich and diverse culture from where you are sure to take back varying and interesting memories. If you are an international traveler who has decided to visit India as a tourist you are in great luck because you do not have to go through too much trouble in order to make this long awaited trip happen. The Government of India provides an electronic Visa or e-Visa meant specifically for tourists and you can apply for the e-Visa online instead of from the Indian Embassy in your country as the traditional paper Visa is done. This India Tourist Visa is not only for tourists who visit the country for the purposes of sight-seeing or recreation but it is also supposed to make easier the lives of those who want to visit India for the purpose of visiting family, relatives, or friends.
Conditions of Indian Tourist Visa
As useful and helpful as the Indian Tourist Visa is, it does come with a list of conditions that you need to meet in order to be eligible for it. It is only available to travelers who intend to stay for no longer than 180 days in the country at one time, that is, you should be returning or going onwards on your journey out of the country within 180 days of your entry into the country on the Tourist e-Visa. You also cannot take a commercial trip to India on the India Tourist Visa, only a non-commercial one. As long as you meet these eligibility requirements for the India Tourist Visa as well as the eligibility conditions for e-Visa in general, you would be eligible to apply for the Tourist Visa for India.
As mentioned above, the Indian Tourist Visa is meant for those international travelers who want to visit the country as tourists in order to visit all of the popular tourist spots and spend a fun vacation in the country or those who want to visit their loved ones residing in the country. But India Tourist Visa can also be used by international travelers coming here to attend a short term Yoga Programme, or take a course that will last no more than 6 months and will grant no degree or diploma certificate, or for partaking in volunteer work that will not exceed the duration of 1 month. These are the only valid grounds on which you can apply for the Tourist Visa for India.
Types of Indian Tourist Visa
As of 2020, the Tourist e-Visa itself is available in three different types depending upon its duration and visitors should apply for the one most appropriate to their purpose of visit to India.
The first of these types is the 30 Day India Tourist Visa, which allows the visitor to stay in the country for 30 days from the date of entry into the country and is a Double Entry Visa, which means that you can enter the country twice within the period of the Visa’s validity. The 30 Day Tourist e-Visa causes some confusion, however, because there is a Date of Expiry mentioned on the e-Visa but this is the date before which you must enter the country, not the one before which you must exit the country. The date of exit will only be determined by the date of your entry into the country and will be 30 days after the said date.
The second type of Tourist e-Visa is the 1 Year India Tourist Visa, which is valid for 365 days from the date of issue of the e-Visa. It is important to note here that unlike the 30 Day Tourist Visa the 1 Year Tourist Visa’s validity is determined by the date of its issue, not the date of the visitor’s entry into the country. Moreover, the 1 Year Tourist Visa is a Multiple Entry Visa, which means that you can enter the country only multiple times within the period of the Visa’s validity.
The third type of Tourist e-Visa is the 5 Year India Tourist Visa, which is valid for 5 years from the date of its issue and it is also a Multiple Entry Visa.
Many of the requirements for the application for the Indian Tourist Visa are the same as those for other e-Visas. These include an electronic or scanned copy of the first (biographical) page of the visitor’s passport, which must be the standard Passport, not Diplomatic or any other type of Passport, and which must remain valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into India, otherwise you would need to renew your passport. The other requirements are a copy of the visitor’s recent passport-style colour photo, a working email address, and a debit card or a credit card for the payment of the application fees. Applicants may also be asked to provide proof of being in possession of sufficient money to fund their trip to and stay in India, as well as a return or onward ticket out of the country. While the e-Visa does not require you to visit the Indian Embassy, you should make sure your passport has two blank pages for the Immigration Officer to stamp at the airport.
Like other e-Visas, the holder of the Indian Tourist Visa has to enter the country from the approved Immigration Check Posts which include 28 airports and 5 seaports and the holder has to exit from the approved Immigration Check Posts too.
